Hot air balloon festival, Pan Masters top best bets

The Pan Masters Steel Orchestra will perform at Bluemont Saturday night.
The sound of Caribbean steel drums will fill Old Town Warrenton Saturday night during the final Bluemont summer concert performance.

The Pan Masters Steel Orchestra will play interpretations of Stevie Wonder, the Beatles, J.S. Bach and others for audience members on the lawn of the Warren Green Building.

Other entertainment options in Fauquier include the hot air balloon festival near Bealeton, a movie and music in Remington, honeybees at Sky Meadows State Park, a block party at Vint Hill and a family festival at Eva Walker Park.

Vint Hill Block Party
5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18

Vint Hill’s final block party of the summer features face painting, music, games, raffles, food from Covert Café and A la Carte Catering and other activities. Child and dog friendly. Free.

Remington Friday festival
6:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18
150 W. Bowen St., Remington

This month’s event features performer Daniel Carter playing 90’s cover music and his own compositions, a picnic fare provided by the Remington Community Garden, popcorn and snow-cones. A showing of the movie “Batman vs. Superman” will start at dusk. Rain or shine. Free.

Hot Air Balloon Festival at The Flying Circus
6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 19-20
5114 Ritchie Road, Bealeton

About a dozen hot air balloons will fly from 7 to 9 a.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. both days at the annual festival. Balloon rides available. The regular Flying Circus Airshow will take place at 2:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday with expert pilots performing daring stunts in vintage airplanes complete with aerobatics, wing walkers and comedy routines. Weather permitting. Admission: Adults, $15; children ages 5 to 12, $7; children 4 and younger, free. Cash preferred.

National Honeybee Day at Sky Meadows
11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19
11012 Edmonds Lane, Delaplane

Citizens can celebrate National Honeybee Day by learning about beekeeping, honey and the art of apiculture with the Beekeepers of Northern Shenandoah. Beekeepers Doug and Ramona Morris will perform a honey extraction. Held at Sky Meadows State Park. $5 per vehicle.

Community Family Fun Day
12 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19
144 Haiti St., Warrenton

This family friendly event features free food, a cakewalk, moon bounce, pie eating contest, games and other activities at Eva Walker Park. Sponsored by First Baptist Church, Piedmont Dispute Resolution Center and the Warrenton Police Department. Free.

Bluemont concert: Pan Masters
7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19
10 Hotel St., Warrenton

The popular Pan Masters Steel Orchestra will thrill audience members with island instruments and dancing while playing traditional island calypso, reggae and soca music. Originally from the Islands of Trinidad and Tobago, the band has played steel drums for Bluemont since 1982. Audience members bring blankets and chairs to the lawn of the Warren Green Building at Culpeper and Hotel streets. Rain location: Taylor Middle School. $5 per person; $4 for Bluemont friends and seniors; $2 children ages 11 and younger.
