As planned, the Warrenton-Fauquier Airport’s new terminal building should be completed in July.
“We’re about 30 percent done,” airport Director Dave Darrah said last week of the $4.5-million project. “Over the last several weeks, the trade workers have been in there — plumbers, electricians, light-gauge steel people.”
At 10,000-square-feet, the two-story, county-owned building will include “green features,” such as a geothermal cooling/heating system, a rooftop rain “harvesting” system to meet the terminal’s water needs and a network of solar panels to power the place.
An August ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at the 406-acre airport on Route 610 near Midland, Mr. Darrah said.
“We’ll invite the cast of thousands — the governor and all of our politicians,” he said. “Everybody will pat everybody on the back. Everybody will say great things.”

Progress isn't creating bike paths for the few people that ride paid for by the many taxpayers that don't ride. I say let them take their chances and ride at their own risk, not a "want" that I need to pay for in raised property taxes.

Progress? progress is taking two feet out of Main st marshall. That'll be funny. Lets spend $15m to put in curbs and add planters to make main st pretty. But let us keep the rotted hazardous old movie theatre there because it adds character???

I aint never recieved my airport benefit check. I doubt anybody else has either. I do get tax increases for teachers. Pay teachers. Dont subsidize those who can afford airplanes.
Still, I ask, how does the airport support economic growth? IF the airport disappeared overnight only 5 people in the county would know or care.

Here's a surprise, I agree with nonewtaxes on this issue.

I concur with Rover 530. It is progress, has potential. I needn't use the airport to benefit, much as is true for other govt services. Bonus: The partnership brought funds from other sources to supplement ours.

How will the airport be a powerful economic engine? THose concerned are the less than 1% of people in the county that own a plane.

Great, more air traffic and noise for those many in the county that live around the airport, to support the few rich in the county and surrounding counties. Thanks Mr. Gerhart, another project you wanted and got.

Yeah but the old entrance as well as the mulch place across the street were required to have a turning/deceleration lane, yet this entrance for this item was not???
