Warrenton man faces heroin, methadone charges

Authorities charged Richard Wayne Green, 40, of Warrenton, with possession of narcotics with the intent to distribute.
Authorities charged a local man with possession of heroin and methadone with intent to distribute after a traffic stop Thursday afternoon in Warrenton, according to the Fauquier sheriff’s office.

“Sheriff’s detectives and members of the Blue Ridge Narcotics and Gang Task Force conducted a traffic stop in Warrenton after observing an individual driving and known to have an outstanding warrant,” Sgt. James Hartman wrote in a press release. “The driver, Richard Green, 40, of Warrenton, was observed driving in town and known to detectives to have an outstanding warrant for driving without a valid license.”

After stopping the vehicle around 4 p.m. Aug. 1, “a subsequent search of his person resulted in the seizure of multiple baggies of heroin and cash,” Sgt. Hartman said. “The investigation then led to a search warrant of a local motel room used by Green, resulting in the additional seizure of heroin, methadone and cash . . . .

“He was held at the Fauquier County Adult Detention Center with no bond at the time of his arrest.”
