Warrenton Ward 3 race tops Tuesday’s elections

Warrenton Town Council candidates, clockwise from top left: Jerry Wood (Ward 1), Alec Burnett (Ward 2), Brett Hamby (Ward 3), Ken Henson (Ward 3), Bob Kravetz (Ward 4) and Kevin Carter (Ward 5).
Warrenton voters will elect the five ward representatives on the town council. The mayor and at-large council members won election to four-year terms in 2014.
A lively contest in Warrenton’s Ward 3 headlines elections in Fauquier’s three incorporated towns Tuesday, May 3.

Brett Hamby and Ken Henson have campaigned for months to succeed Councilman Yak Lubowsky (Ward 3), who will step down June 30.

Mr. Hamby and Dr. Henson have planted yard signs, conducted phone banks, used social media and mailed literature in their efforts to woe the 1,281 registered voters in their ward.

But, beyond the Ward 3 race, the 15 other candidates on ballots in Warrenton, Remington and The Plains have no opposition.

Write-in candidates reportedly will attempt to win in Warrenton, however.

All together, the towns have a total of 7,055 registered voters. The polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Whether you agree with every vote he's made or not, every vote Bret Hamby has made while a member of the Warrenton Planning Commission has given him experience. Experience in Warrenton government that every resident of Ward 3 should be excited to have in their new council representative. Bret Hamby has already made a commitment to our community, that commitment and his experience in Warrenton government make him an excellent choice for Town Council.
