Fauquier woman and child, 6, shot to death in home

A woman and her 7-year-old son died of apparent gunshot wounds Friday night near Morrisville in Southern Fauquier, according to the sheriff’s office.

A suspect, identified as a 17-year-old boy, remained in an armed standoff with sheriff’s deputies just before 8 p.m., Sgt. James Hartman said.

At about 6 p.m., a man called 911 to report he came home to find his wife and son shot to death in the 1200 block of Elk Run Road, Sgt. Hartman said.

“He was confronted by a 17-year-old family member,” who fired several shots at him, the sergeant added.

An ambulance took the man to a local hospital for undisclosed injuries.

The standoff began.

“There is a large law enforcement presence in the area,” Sgt. Hartman said. “Residents in the area are urged to shelter in place.”

Mark, please describe to us how a Red Flag law would have prevented this crime.

Please let us all know why you believe in the suspension of a constitutional rights before any crime has happened.

No one person should ever have the ability to take a right from another without a right to trail and due process and the victim the right to face the accuser making the Red Flag claim.

Let me remind you of how dangerous Red flags laws are just by fact of history.
Have you ever heard of the Salem witch trails? Have you heard of the Nazi party? Have you heard of the KKK?
All are examples of groups that used Red Flag type laws to take away a given right.
People were killed based on the accusations of the ignorant. The Nazi party had red flag laws proclaiming anyone who was Jewish lost god given rights and the right to bare arms. The KKK had laws created at various times and in many states that prevented African Americans the right to bear arms.

Just imagining the world you are trying to create by your ignorance and fear.

Now let us focus on facts. No law can be created, will be created that would have prevented a crazy person such as Levi from harming another human being. He is clearly sick. If not a gun, he would use a knife, a rock,a car, a hammer,a screwdriver, a fork, his hands, what ever else his sick mind could come up with. A crazy person will find a way.

My heart and prayers go out to that family. Levi deserves the death penalty for his crimes.

Red flag laws aren't going to stop under age mentaly ill person from aquiring a illegal gun. At the age of 17 it is already against the law. Red flag law is for family members to report that you think a family member that owns guns is a threat to him or her self and or others. So again a 17 year old with a gun is illegal in the first place. None of the new gun laws will stop a situation like this. We need to enforce the gun laws we already have. If this gun ends up being the fathers gun again Red flag law wouldn't have helped if father is a sain upstanding hard working citizen law wont apply
