David Wright says he’ll trim his beard but has no other immediate plans for his winnings.
“If you have a feeling, definitely try it,” the lottery winner from Remington suggested.
That’s how David Wright ended up with a ticket worth $200,000. Mr. Wright told Virginia Lottery officials he saw the $ Scratcher game and had a gut feeling, so he asked for two tickets. He said something just told him he should buy that game.
Mr. Wright purchased the winning $ Scratcher ticket at the 7-Eleven in Bealeton.
A convenience store employee, Mr. Wright said he doesn’t have many plans yet, but he does plan to have his beard trimmed.
The $ Scratcher is one of the summer’s newest Virginia Lottery games. It features prizes ranging from $5 to $200,000. The state lottery launched the game with six top prizes. Mr. Wright won the first top prize, which means five $200,000 tickets remain.
The Virginia Lottery generated more than $486.5 million for the commonwealth’s public schools in fiscal 2013, officials said.
