World War II Warbirds Showcase
Saturday & Sunday May 7 & 8, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Warrenton-Fauquier Airport, 1533 Iris Trail, Midland
Hosted by the Capital Wing of the Commemorative Air Force (CAF), in conjunction with the Delaware Aviation Museum Foundation (DAMF), the showcase gives visitors the opportunity to experience WWII-era planes. Warbirds scheduled to appear include the B-25 Panchito, a Stinson L-5 Sentinel, a Fairchild UC-61 Forwarder, two Boeing PT-17 Stearman bi-planes, and a North American SNJ/T-6. The public will have the opportunity to purchase warbird rides in all the aircraft as a tribute to the thousands of men and women who built, serviced and flew them. Warbird rides in any of these aircraft allow the public to sit in the same seats as did those of another generation 80 years ago. Many riders are overcome with emotion if their grandfathers or fathers flew in these same type warbirds.

Warbird Showcase will provide a “Women and Girls Can Fly!” program where the public can meet and greet our three women pilots, and there will be other attractions for the entire family. Two flight schools will have static airplanes on display with flight instructors to answer questions, and planes the kids can climb inside. There will be an authentic WWII encampment set up by local reenactors along with military vehicles.

Saturday May 7, 12 p.m.
The Fauquier History Museum at the Old Jail, 10 Ashby Street, Warrenton

The Fauquier Historical Society is hosting a walking tour of Warrenton featuring sites related to the “Grey Ghost” John Singleton Mosby. Mosby Historian and author Dave Goetz will take participants to eight locations in Warrenton that involve Mosby and his partisan rangers while also talking about the coming of the Civil War to the town and its occupants. The tour will run for 1 hour and will walk along the sidewalks of Old Town Warrenton. Comfortable shoes and clothes appropriate for the expected weather that day are recommended.

Warrenton Farmers Market Kids Day
Saturday, May 7, 8 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Parking lot behind 21 Main St., Warrenton

It’s a day especially for kids at the popular Warrenton Farmers Market. There will be free games, books and activities for kids and their families. Fauquier County 4-H Youth Entrepreneurs will be selling their handmade foods, crafts and more alongside regular farmers market vendors.

The Farmer's Forge and The Settles’ Kettle Historical Demonstrations
Saturday, May 7, 12-3 p.m.
Sky Meadows State Park, 11012 Edmonds Lane, Delaplane

It’s a weekend to learn about history at Sky Meadows State Park. Members of the Blacksmith Guild of the Potomac are ready to show off their skills at the Blacksmith Shop, located behind the Dairy Barn in the Historic Area. See them fashion iron into helpful tools and kitchen items used on the farm. Purchase handmade goods right on site.

Then follow your nose to the Log Cabin to see what tasty treats are cooking on the hearth. Watch as a Sky Meadows volunteer dons historic clothing and cooks dishes using seasonal foods and 19th-century cooking methods. Discover how foods differed between the Settle family and their enslaved, and take the historic recipes to try at home.
