A high-speed pursuit in Fauquier County Thursday led to the arrest of a Centreville woman, the sheriff’s office said in a news release Friday.

Alyssa Dunlap, 24, of Centreville, is facing charges of felony eluding, destruction of property, grand larceny, conspiracy to commit grand larceny and driving suspended following the incident.

Shortly after noon Thursday, a sheriff’s office corporal attempted a traffic stop for a vehicle violation, the release states. The car failed to stop and continued north at a high rate of speed.

The pursuit continued north on Lee Highway, and the vehicle turned onto Old Alexandria Turnpike. A sheriff’s office deputy then located the vehicle on Emily Ann Court, and the driver fled on foot through the woods.

Dunlap was eventually caught and taken into custody.

No injuries were reported during the pursuit and arrest.

Dunlap was being held at the Fauquier County Adult Detention Center without bond Friday.
