9th Casanova Chili Cook-off set Saturday, March 21
Organizers hope to raise $5,000, which would buy 17,240 meals for Rise Against Hunger.
Casanova will host its ninth annual chili cook-off to fight hunger Saturday, March 21.
Local cooks will prepare their favorite recipes for judging and then a community meal that evening. The menu also will feature salad, cornbread, dessert and soft drinks. Beer and wine will be available for purchase.
Grace Episcopal Church, St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church and members of the community organize the chili cook-off.
The event will begin at 6 p.m. March 21, in the Grace Church Parish Hall at 5108 Weston road in Casanova.
There is no admission. But, monetary donations will be accepted — along with non-perishable food items.
The events organizers hope to raise $5,000 to support Rise Against Hunger. That would purchase 17,240 meals for children and families in need. The community will gather at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 9, at the parish hall to pack the meals.
