Abortion is not “a blessing” or “an act of love”

Former Gov. Terry McAuliffe and I share many cultural similarities. We are both Irish. We were both born in the Empire State, educated at Catholic schools and profess to be a “Strong Catholic.”

One of the key doctrines of the Catholic Church is that every person, including the unborn, has a fundamental right to life. The head of our church, Pope Francis recently declared that abortion is “murder.” I am deeply saddened that 62.5 million abortions have occurred in the United States since the controversial Roe v. Wade decision in 1973. The United States, along with China, North Korea and Vietnam, have some of the least restrictive abortions laws in the world.

Unfortunately, Terry McAuliffe is an abortion activist. He has publicly stated that he supports abortions at any time up to and including the birth of a child without any restrictions. Mr. McAuliffe has said he would sign legislation changing Virginia state law to allow a single doctor to authorize the destruction of life. He also supports repealing the federal law known as the Hyde Amendment, which has for the past 43 years prohibited the use of our taxpayer money for an abortion except in the cases of rape, incest or to save a woman’s life.

Terry McAuliffe does not support the fundamental right to life or the teachings of his own church. In fact, he doesn’t even support the views of his mentor, President Bill Clinton who famously said, “Abortions must be safe, legal and rare.” On September 30, 2021, Texas abortionist Dr. Ghazaleh Moayedl testified before Congress that, “Abortion is a blessing, abortion is an act of love, abortion is freedom.” She is the face of today’s abortion rights movement that Terry McAuliffe strongly supports.

This year let us stand up for life. Reject Terry McAuliffe and his radical abortion views. Vote for Glenn Youngkin and his pro-life team of Winsome Sears and Jason Miyares.
