Get a grip; all of us must help start “a positive era”
By Catherine E. Goin
I took a short nap and woke up around 3:30 on Jan. 6, turning the TV on to the devastating scene of insurrectionists invading the U.S. Capitol, hoping to kill Nancy Pelosi, Mike Pence and any other leaders they didn't approve of.
I talked to my doctor about what to do in addition to participating in the BLM Vigils on Saturday mornings in Warrenton.
“Write how you feel,” he said. “To preserve democracy and freedom in America we must do more than talk. If possible send money to those who cherish freedom and democracy and the truth and also volunteer."
White supremacists were largely responsible for backing Hitler and the Nazis in Germany, starting World War II. They hate women (many of whom support them), people of other colors, believers in the way of Christ and any religion or philosophy other than their warped version of Christianity, contrary to the teachings of Christ. Read the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew: 5-8) and Mark 12:28-31 (The Great Commandments . . . love the Lord and love your neighbor as yourself.)
Truth to them is based on conspiracy theories about Donald Trump winning the election, for which they have not a shred of proof.
I say, “Get a grip.” In spite of our Constitution, which gives “one person, one vote,” the vote in their minds is not for people of color or women. They are wrong and should accept the fact that Mr. Trump lost the election.
Believing that “good triumphs over evil,” some friends and I are having dinner to celebrate the beginning of a positive era, requiring the effort of us all.
