Focus on the 5 Rs when voting in this election

By Duke Bland

Folks, it has been stated by an overwhelming number of voters, this is the most important election in the lifetime of many. It is an election of 5 Rs:

• Restore honesty, decency and leadership to the White House.

• Respect the lives and dignity of ALL people, including the people of color.

• Repair relationships with our European allies.

• Recognize and address the ravages of global warming.

• Rely on science and medical expertise to reduce and recover from COVID-19.

If YOU want to make a difference, if YOU want to be part of the solution, if YOU have grown tired of the status quo, then you must vote and encourage others to vote and let YOUR voices be heard via the stoke of a pen!

If YOU have not registered, then do so! Spread the word through social media, family connections, friends, neighbors, churches or any other contacts to encourage all newly-eligible voters to get registered before the Oct. 13 deadline. A Virginia driver's license or state-issued ID card is required.

You can also play a big part in assisting folks who need transportation to polling places. This may include the elderly, people without a car or handicapped people. If someone you know is home-bound and unable to get to the polls, help them obtain a mail-in absentee application and follow up to be sure they get a ballot by mail and return it early.

Now, this is very, very important. If you or someone you know have not voted in several of the last federal elections, your status may be in the “inactive registration” category. You can verify your registration status by calling the Registrar's Office or visiting the Virginia Department ff Elections website.

If you don’t vote, don’t talk politics to me when you see me out and about. I don’t care to hear your whining, complaining and combative attitude.

The writer represents Marshall District on the five-member Fauquier County School Board.

Ms. Ward, unfortunately, your Democrat Party now protects Federal Civil Servants after decades of Clinton and Obama rule who hold high-level security clearances who are: Homosexual; Transgender (people who are biologically Male or Female but are mentally unstable enough to think they are the opposite of their birth sex); and/or who are Committed Marxists and Communists (Government Employees who voted for Obama and cheered his election twice while being an undocumented U.S. President with all kinds of RED FLAG background warnings that our Federal Government officially chose to look the other way (including the U.S. Supreme Court and the U.S. Electoral Commission- who both failed to protect the American People by performing their constitutional duties to properly vet and disqualify Obama from being elected U.S. President in 2008. I could go on- but suffice it to say our Federal Government is a Cultural Marxism disaster and sinister regime in many areas today- the same individuals and Communists who had become embedded there after 20 years of Roosevelt and Truman, and who were quietly investigated and removed- by the thousands- from Federal Civil Service by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1953-61. Now these same individuals are officially protected by the CLINTON-OBAMA era policies still in place. So all your concerns and Democrat Party support ring hollow below to profess your national security concerns, long since badly compromised ever since Ike left office in January, 1961.

Finally, to continue on the topic at hand, after all Patriot Americans of all races and socio-economic backgrounds have done their due diligence to vote to re-elect President Trump in a landslide, only the Harvesters and Post Office can beat Trump now.

Just look at this past weekend's overwhelming evidence:

China Joe Biden is in REAL TROUBLE - Look at the massive photographic and honest news journalism evidence presented here (simply too many actual news journalism photographs and news stories from recent days to list/link separately):

"Transparency is vital. If an applicant tries to hide anything, a clearance would be denied. If an employee, came forward during a routine security reinvestigation and admitted to a debt problem, continued employment would be contingent upon regularly seeing a financial counselor and developing a debt payback plan, along with often moving to a less sensitive job. If a U.S. official tries to hide a debt, he or she would lose their job.

For a senior official, and certainly for a president, the counterintelligence risk is direct — a foreign intelligence officer shows up and offers to pay your debt in exchange for sensitive information or policy decisions.

But there is an additional, just as insidious risk, that is more subtle: a president, eager or even desperate to clear his accounts might, without any foreign intervention, pursue policies not with the goal of furthering U.S. national interests, but rather with the goal of advancing his or her business either before leaving office or after. Both types are a betrayal of one’s country."

Linda Ward · October 11, 2020 at 12:45 pm
"As former national security officials of the government, we have no special insight into President Trump’s financial condition, but if the recent news accounts are correct, his financial situation presents a significant counterintelligence risk — because the millions of dollars he owes over the next few years put his very financial solvency at risk. If he can’t pay these debts, he may face severe business, political and social consequences.

This would undoubtedly be the conclusion of the professional “adjudicators” whose job it is to decide whether to grant someone a security clearance. But, because he is the president, Trump did not need to go through the normal process of filling out necessary forms and having his case reviewed. The American people gave him the highest clearance when they elected him in 2016. Members of Congress are also exempted from this exhaustive review.

Having said that, we have no doubt that if the president were a normal applicant for a job requiring access to classified information, any adjudicator we know would have rejected him over concerns that his high levels of debt would create an unacceptable counterintelligence risk. Trump would have been denied a clearance."

JEFF- "..... the former Soviet Union KGB Colonel was comparing U.S. Democrats to the old Soviet-era Communists- he should know- he was one and remains one. Hardly a ringing endorsement for President Trump."

So, JEFF if the Democrats are old Soviet era Communists according to Putin, then what are the Republicans to him? Traitors come to mind. Your resources are all conspiracies rags. If all true concerned Patriotic Americans vote, Trump will be a wanted by the authorities and rejected one-hit disaster.

Mr. Fields, the former Soviet Union KGB Colonel was comparing U.S. Democrats to the old Soviet-era Communists- he should know- he was one and remains one. Hardly a ringing endorsement for President Trump. Both U.S. enemies, Russia and China are seeking a Biden win to further weaken and erode the United States from within.

On another note, honest PHOTOGRAPHS DON'T LIE. I see where Democrat Marxists below need more reputable news journalism sources where their photos don't lie.

Jeffersonian American · October 10, 2020 at 1:52 pm
What a truthful endorsement for U.S. President. Putin calls the Democrats what they are- Communists.

No wonder Joe Biden has been endorsed by everyone from the Communist Party USA, Bernie Sanders, dictators around the world, and don't forget the National Man-Boy Love Association and every other Radical Left LGBTQ+ organization around the country and around the globe- even Communist China wants China Joe to win. Americans know there is no reason why Putin would allegedly be trying to undermine Biden- China Joe has been bought and sold over the past 47 years in elected office- and can be bought and sold again- and his plans would weaken America considerably if not destroy it forever. Clearly, Biden is Russia and China's dream candidate:

All the more evidence and reasons to reject your local, State and national Soviet Communist-style Democrat Candidates- and those in our local community who champion that brand of Marxist-Communist tyranny- and know that President Trump will be handily re-elected next month by All Concerned Americans of all races and socio-economic backgrounds- their American Dreams and the futures of all generations who have known and enjoyed liberty depend on the tens of millions of determined Patriot American votes in this upcoming national election- sadly, with no margin for error.

Democrats who pretend they love America while promising Marxist-Communist policies on (an updated version of the 1963 Communist Manifesto) are way overdue for another Day of Reckoning on November 3rd.

Who cares about Hunter Biden? He is not running for President. As to the $3.5 million, maybe he was her boy toy, again who cares. "Hunter had no experience in fund management." He is a lawyer and investment advisor, which makes him qualified in the business world.

"Robert Hunter Biden is an American lawyer and investment advisor who is the second son of former U.S. Vice President Joe Biden. He is a founding partner of Rosemont Seneca Partners, an investment and advisory firm. Biden served on the board of Burisma Holdings, a major Ukrainian natural gas producer, from 2014 to 2019. He has been the subject of debunked right-wing conspiracy theories concerning his business dealings in Ukraine."

On another topic the anti-abortion President was treated for CV-19 with an Antibody treatment Trump touts that relied on testing with cells derived from fetal tissue.
jim goodwin · October 9, 2020 at 6:36 pm
Joe Biden used for leverage 1 billion tax payer dollars to get a Ukranian prosecutor fired when that prosecutor was investigating Barisma, a company at which his son Hunter Biden was making a very large salary. Regardless of whether that prosecutor was corrupt or not, that stinks to high heaven.

In December 2013, Hunter accompanied his father on an official visit to China. Less than two weeks later, Hunter’s company, Rosemont Seneca, became a partner in a new investment company backed by the state-owned Bank of China. Hunter had no experience in fund management. His only experience was being the son of the VP of the U.S.

Hunter Biden also received $3.5 million from the wife of the Moscow mayor while Joe Biden was VP. Why? What are Hunter Biden's special skills other than being the son of the second most influential person in the world.

"After previously disclosing owning zero financial assets, Virginia congressional candidate Bob Good filed an amended financial disclosure this week showing he holds dozens of stocks, including in two companies that had business before the Campbell County Board of Supervisors when Good served on the panel.

Good (R), who is running against Democrat Cameron Webb for the open 5th District seat, filed amended disclosures dating to 2018 after facing questions last week from news outlets in his district, such as the Rappahannock News, about why he had reported no assets, unusual for a longtime businessman. He now reports between $213,000 and $1.65 million in assets and unearned income.

Among the dozens of stocks now disclosed in Good’s individual retirement account are shares in Abbott Laboratories, a pharmaceutical company, and McKesson, a drug distributor and health-care IT company. The companies benefited from contracts with Campbell County in 2016. Each stock is worth between $1,001 and $15,000, according to the disclosure."

"In one bizarre episode from 2009, Trump rented out Seven Springs to the former Libyan dictator Moammar Gaddafi, who was in New York for the United Nations General Assembly. Gaddafi’s staff pitched a Bedouin-style tent, complete with camel-print drapery, in Trump’s yard.

But even tent-building was doomed at Seven Springs. Bedford officials issued a stop-work order — the tent was deemed a temporary residence, and it had no permits — and Gaddafi didn’t end up moving in.

“We are outraged that this known criminal would attempt to set up camp in our community, and we intend to do everything in our power to deny them temporary residence,” Bedford Town Supervisor Lee Roberts said at the time.

Gaddafi still “paid me a fortune,” Trump told CBS in 2016."

Any way to make a buck that Trump, even from dictators.
Cammie Rodgers · October 9, 2020 at 1:50 pm
"Five years ago, Donald Trump promised to preserve more than 150 acres of rolling woodlands in an exclusive swath of New York suburbia prized for its luxury homes and rural tranquility.

In exchange for setting aside this land on his estate known as Seven Springs, Trump received a tax break of $21.1 million, according to court documents.

The size of Trump’s tax windfall was set by a 2016 appraisal that valued Seven Springs at $56.5 million — more than double the value assessed by the three Westchester county towns that each contained a piece of the property.

The valuation has now become a focal point of what could be one of the most consequential investigations facing President Trump as he heads into the election.

New York Attorney General Letitia James (D) is investigating whether the Trump Organization improperly inflated the value of Seven Springs as part of the conservation easement on the property, according to filings in the case in August. The investigation also scrutinizes valuations, tax burdens and conservation easements at Trump’s holdings in Los Angeles, Chicago and New York City."

The chickens are coming home to roost on Trump's scheming and scamming.

Again, Cammie, you're missing the point but I'll play along for a bit. I think anyone that gets an abortion is killing an innocent child. I don't care of they're Republican or Democrat. It never should have been legalized (apart from the imminent death of the mother, which is so rare now as to be inconsequential). Now it's not only legalized, it's actively promoted. Some people have more empathy for the slaughter of animals for food than they do the abortion of an innocent baby.

As a matter of policy, Republican politicians do not usually support abortion at all. The few that are "pro choice" do not support abortions funded by tax payer dollars.

As a matter of policy, and with very few exceptions, Democrat politicians support abortion. There may be differences among them at what stage of pregnancy they support it. But there are some, and they're pushing for legislation, that want abortion on demand, up to the moment of birth and they want it funded by tax payers.

I care about the kind of rationale that says that a baby has no right to life. It's incomprehensible. For those who seek and receive abortions, that's between them and their God or their conscience. But for those that want to pave the way and make it easier for people to avoid responsibility through piss poor policy and MAKE ME AND YOU PAY FOR IT, I have ZERO respect for them.
Cammie Rodgers · October 8, 2020 at 7:42 am
jim - "I don't how many Republicans have had abortions. Nor do I care."

Republicans aborting fetuses is OK with you. I get it now, it's fine for one party but not the other. Your worldview is definitely skewed.
jim goodwin · October 7, 2020 at 6:38 pm
Oh, and I forgot that I offended you, Cammie, by daring to "call the decision to have an abortion "a mother's whim"".
You can't come up with a cogent argument so you resort to being offended, as if that's supposed to end the debate. Whoopie.
jim goodwin · October 7, 2020 at 5:53 pm
So what do we call the 'splaining' you just did, Cammie?

I don't how many Republicans have had abortions. Nor do I care. What I do know is what policies are being pushed by Democrats. Democrat policies always seek to reduce the freedoms of entire population in order to confer "rights" on groups they believe to be oppressed and to cement their power in the minds of those groups.

Democrats try to gain power in other ways as well, like belittling any person, group or institution that stands in their way; Trump, religion (but not Islam), conservatives, America. They make up words like "mansplaining" to express their disdain for things as innocuous as healthy debate.
Cammie Rodgers · October 7, 2020 at 5:27 pm
There goes jim goodwin mansplaining again. So jim, how many Republicans have had abortions? Got any numbers for which side has the most or least? In your mind you appear to think that Republicans should blame the Democrats when they get an abortion? No responsibility Party. I get it, no need to mansplain that to anyone.

It is offensive that you call the decision to have an abortion "a mother's whim". There is NO whim about it.
jim goodwin · October 7, 2020 at 2:13 pm

According to Democrats, a living fetus has no right to life as long as it is still in the mother's womb. Therefore, you have no right to life because it can be taken, under law, at a mother's whim.

Just because one doesn't have a right to life, according to the government, doesn't mean they cease to exist. It simply means that the government hasn't seen fit to execute them yet.

That's just one example. But thanks for playing!

Goldman Sachs is probably right but only because Democrats are going to print money like never before. Sure, they'll prop up their pet corporations and pump trillions into the economy. But it won't last. It's a Ponzi scheme. Once taxes are increased beyond a certain point, employers will flee the country again. The government will then have to make a choice. Let them go or confiscate them to force them to stay. Or go all in on the New World Order so they have nowhere to run.

Democrats do everything by force. Democrats only believe in rights if they are granted explicitly by the government. In the eyes of the Left, you have no inherent rights. You have a right only to things that the government can grant you; goods and services. You have no right to life. You have no right to defend yourself. You have no right to speak freely. You have no right to hold a different opinion.
FairandBalanced · October 6, 2020 at 4:13 pm
President Donald Trump is once again warning voters that Democrats would "shut our economy and jobs down" if they win in November.

Goldman Sachs is telling its clients the exact opposite.
Just hours after Trump's all-caps Monday morning tweet predicting economic disaster, Goldman economists pointed out that polls "suggest a 'blue wave' in which Democrats gain unified control of Washington is becoming more likely" -- and they're not suggesting investors dump stocks.
In fact, "all else equal, such a blue wave would likely prompt us to upgrade our forecasts," Goldman Sachs chief economist Jan Hatzius wrote in a Monday report.

"Sometimes, even in the midst of great structural forces moving in one direction, countries can make decisions that reshape our path. In May 1958, at the height of the Cold War, there was a moment of choosing in Minneapolis. The deputy minister of health of the Soviet Union, Viktor Zhdanov, attended the annual meeting of the WHO’s governing body, the World Health Assembly. As Harvard historian Erez Manela has noted, it was the first time a Soviet delegation had attended since the WHO’s founding a decade earlier. Zhdanov urged the organization to mount a global campaign to eradicate smallpox once and for all. In a nod to the United States, he quoted in his speech a letter Thomas Jefferson had written to Edward Jenner, who had pioneered the smallpox vaccine. “Future nations will know by history only that the loathsome small-pox has existed,” Jefferson wrote. It was an early attempt to put into action Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev’s post-Stalin plan of “peaceful coexistence” with the West.

The United States was resistant at first, not least for thinking the Soviet proposal would pull attention away from U.S.-led efforts to eradicate malaria. Yet once Washington threw its support behind the project, this cooperation ramped up during the Lyndon B. Johnson administration and became a central focus of the WHO. The two superpowers facilitated not only the mass production of vaccines, but also a program to vaccinate people throughout the Third World. By 1980, smallpox had been officially eradicated. Manela says it “was arguably the single most successful instance of superpower collaboration in Cold War history.” And it’s a lesson that Beijing and Washington should learn in the post-covid-19, bipolar world to come."

Imagine and act accordingly.
Mark House · October 6, 2020 at 1:17 pm
"The imperative for cooperation is nowhere more evident than in the relationship between the world’s two greatest powers, the United States and China. We are entering a bipolar world — characterized by a reality in which two countries are simply head-and-shoulders above the rest in hard power. China is not simply the second-largest economy and second-largest military spender in the world. It is also as large or larger than the next four countries put together on both dimensions. It is no longer a technological copycat. Of the 500 fastest computers in the world, 226 are in China, twice the number that are in the United States. We can imagine two futures. The first one of competition in many arenas — economic, technological — but also cooperation to ensure peace and stability and to achieve certain common goals. Tackling climate change, for example, will be impossible without sustained and coordinated action from both Washington and Beijing. Or there is another path. The two most dynamic societies in the world could find themselves locked into ever-ascending spirals, from the militarization of space to the weaponizing of cyberspace — all fueled by an arms race in artificial intelligence and bioengineering, which could produce unintended consequences that are impossible to imagine today."

There is hope after all if we only use the brains given us.

F&B, your comment about the frog in the boiling pot of water is more apropos to the progression toward Socialism.

Your understanding of climate change is rooted in which science you choose to believe. There are other scientific findings out there but they are silenced because the of the religious dogma of Leftism:

Scientific studies have shown that atmospheric Carbon Dioxide in past eras reached concentrations that were 20 times higher than the current concentration. Recent investigations have shown that the current change of climate is part of a larger cycle known as climatic lowstand phase which precedes a sequential warming period known as transgression phase. The purpose of this evaluation is to demonstrate that the Earth is actually cooling, in the context of the total geological timescale, and that the current change is equivalent to a serial climate phase known as lowstand.

In the last 20 years, public interest in climate phenomena has grown, especially since the UN-IPCC began its campaign warning of catastrophic climate changes ahead. At Biology Cabinet, we maintain that the changes that we have observed since 1985 have been natural and that human beings cannot delay or stop the advance of these changes, but can only adapt to them. In addition, we have shown that the changes that we observe at present are the result of natural cycles which have occurred many times before."

In January, the WHO stated that masks were unnecessary and that human-to-human transmission was not happening.
In February, “continues to advise against the application of travel restrictions to countries experiencing COVID-19 outbreaks.”.
That was science. Should we believe that now?

The science of Dr. Fauci:
1/21/2020 - "...but this is not a major threat for the people in the United States, and this is not something that the citizens of the United States right now should be worried about."
2/17/2020 - "The only people who need masks are those who are already infected to keep from exposing others. The masks sold at drugstores aren't even good enough to truly protect anyone, Fauci said."
2/29/2020 - “right now, at this moment, there is no need to change anything you’re doing on a day-to-day basis.”
3/9/2020 - “If you are a healthy young person, there is no reason if you want to go on a cruise ship, go on a cruise ship.”
3/26/2020 - “… the overall clinical consequences of COVID-19 may ultimately be more akin to those of severe seasonal influenza (which has a case fatality rate of approximately 0.1%) or a pandemic influenza (similar to those in 1957 and 1968) rather than a disease similar to SARS or MERS, which have had case fatality rates of 9 to 10% and 36%, respectively.”

And on and on. So which science do we believe?

Only the science that serves the Left.

It never ceases to amaze me just how differently we see things. The more Democrats decry Trump the more strongly I support him. I guess we've heard all the arguments and neither side is going to move anymore.

• Restore honesty, decency and leadership to the White House.

I think the only thing we can expect from either presidential candidate is leadership. Neither one is the epitome of honesty or decency. Biden will lead us to Socialism. Trump will lead us back to America "the idea." I REFUSE TO TURN LEFT. (NASCAR can suck it!)

• Respect the lives and dignity of ALL people, including the people of color.

That's a lovely sentiment but it's complete BS. Some people don't deserve respect, regardless of color. I prefer to be free to choose who I respect rather than have my government demand it and back those demands up with terrible policies and back those policies with guns.
Does a mass shooter deserve my respect? Does a home invader deserve my respect? Does an avowed Marxist deserve my respect? Does a lying politician deserve my respect?

• Repair relationships with our European allies.

Right. You mean our allies that fleece us for billions every year? Again. No.

• Recognize and address the ravages of global warming.

How about recognizing that we aren't the PRIMARY cause of warming and our affect on climate is undetermined? How about recognizing that those who want to eliminate fossil fuels have no clue (or don't care) about the devastating environmental affects of the BS renewable energy sources they want to use as an investment vehicle to enrich themselves? How about recognizing it would require BILLIONS of acres of land and sea to put up enough wind and solar farms to power just what we have, never mind the increased load of moving to electric powered EVERYTHING? How about recognizing that 76% of all fossil fuel use is from industrial and heating uses, not simple transportation? How about recognizing the monumental increase in mining for the materials required for batteries? How about recognizing that nuclear power is the ONLY environmentally friendly way to increase electrical output with minimal environmental impact (comparatively)?

• Rely on science and medical expertise to reduce and recover from COVID-19.

How about science and medical experts stay out of policy decisions? How about they just provide WE THE PEOPLE the information and let us decide for ourselves what should be done? How about WE THE PEOPLE decide what our own risk tolerances are and act accordingly instead of our leadership dictating the quarantine of the entire population with arbitrary rules?
We somehow made it through many previous pandemics in this country without locking it down.
And how about we "rely" on ALL science and medical experts instead of only those approved by Democrats and the mainstream media?

Trump's photo op raises new questions about how seriously he takes the virus.

Trump is furious with chief of staff Mark Meadows after the top West Wing official contradicted the White House physician's assessment Saturday of the President's health.

"The President's vitals over the last 24 hours were very concerning and the next 48 hours will be critical in terms of his care. We are still not on a clear path to a full recovery," Meadows said to reporters.

Fairandbalanced, your not. Your acting in perfect unison with the man who wrote this article. It’s under ‘opinion’ yet reads authoritatively. I love our community! So when I read it, I trusted that it was giving unbiased information related to voting. Also, we are free to respond here, but, asked not to call names etc. Why are you so hyper? I’m not republican, Democrat etc. I’m a child of God. In a real way, our country- the country you reside in, is vulnerable right now as our president has fallen ill. It’s not the time to throw stones .. we really do need to practice human kindness & pray for those in leadership regardless of whether we agree with them or not. If I had no opinion, because of your behavior, I would not support anyone you represent or get behind them. Your unglued. Why? I really appreciate your honesty about drinking & desiring to put people down. It’s just.. it doesn’t do anything. The LORD is not slow as we understand slowness concerning His promise, but,is patient - long suffering not wanting anyone to perish but everyone to come to repentance-a knowledge of God. Praying for you neighbor!

Conservative republican right wing nuts are just crying wolf when they attack Vice President's son Hunter, when they attack the Squad as being socialist, when they call a warning about the Democrats being communists or Marxists or socialists. Its an easy way to enlist ill informed constituents. Constituents who watch Fox. Or now worse with Brietbart and Qanon and even more radical radicals. Or don't get much information about the real world and how it operates. These rupubs or Russian bots (and they are interchangeable) me here, fellow Americans?

hellfire! i been drinking as the sun sets, poking the fire and i still make more sense than that prick in the hospital. Can't all be perfect. Just don't want to miss the chance to rebut a stupid republican before his or her snot dries. and there is nothing more perfect than being criticized by perfect people. so bring it on you ignorant group of trump voters.

Democrats offer nothing but anti-Trump rhetoric.

Their own Vice Presidential nominee (Harris) branded their own Presidential nominee (Biden) a "racist"

Biden plagarized, lied more times about his own pedigree more times that can be counted, and his son Hunter makes Nixon look like a choir boy with his kickbacks and payoffs with Russia.

Biden called Black men "super predators" as he passed through crime bill legislation and his youngest son Hunter began having relations with his dead brothers' wife barely 2 months after Beau Biden died. Biden's current wife whored around with then Senator Joe Biden and wrecked her family .... Kinda sketch to me.

Oh...Hunter Biden loves coke and meth too.

Great nominee and great family ! This is who you are grandstanding to "bring integrity back to White House"?
