Georgia Cerisano as Rosalind and Larry Finkel as Touchstone perform in Shakespeare’s comedy.
The Fauquier Community Theatre presents its March production, William Shakespeare’s “As You Like It.”
The play opens Friday, March 8 and runs Fridays through Sundays until March 24.
One of Shakespeare’s best-known comedies, the play features a cast of 14 funny characters who break away from the rigid court and find contentment in nature.
A highly talented group of Fauquier Community Theatre veterans and newcomers will entertain with Shakespearean humor, disguises, music, and most importantly — love.
“Though the play is remembered for Rosalind’s disguise as a man, ‘As You Like It’ features a whole cast of ‘motley’ characters who each get their moment to be funny or profound,” Director Maggie Mumford said.
“This cast of actors is hardworking and hilarious, and each of them understands how to bring the text alive onto the stage. They are all working together to make this a true ensemble piece about finding the joy in life,” Ms. Mumford added.
“As You Like It” is a story of love and adventurous journey towards new beginnings.
Duke Senior has been banished to the Forest of Arden by his brother Duke Frederick.
Frederick then banishes his niece Rosalind who has grown close with his daughter, Celia, and is enamored with Orlando.
To escape his hateful older brother Oliver, Orlando flees to the forest.
He meets up with the exiled duke and other forest wanderers, including Rosalind and Celia who have taken on the male personas, Ganymede and Aliena.
Performances will take place at the community theatre, 4225 Aiken Drive, Warrenton in Vint Hill.
Shows start at 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. on Sundays.
