Fauquier Bankshares names Chip S. Register COO

Chip S. Register joined The Fauquier Bank’s parent company in 2008.
The Fauquier Bankshares Inc. board has promoted Chip S. Register to executive vice president and chief operating officer.

Mr. Register assumed his new duties Friday, Jan. 17. He had served as a senior vice president, chief administrative officer and chief information officer since June 2016. Mr. Register worked almost eight years before that as the company’s chief information officer. Before joining Fauquier Bankshares in 2008, he served as a senior executive at NetBank Inc., which operates a digital banking, mortgage and financial services company.

A Warrenton resident, Mr. Register earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology and graduated from the the ABA Stonier Graduate School of Banking at The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. Active in the industry, he has served on Virginia Bankers Association and Virginia Association of Community Bankers technology committees.

Fauquier Bankshares Inc. and its subsidiary, The Fauquier Bank, had combined assets of $722.2 million at year’s end. Founded in 1902, the independent bank has 11 offices in Fauquier and Prince William counties.

When TFB hired Mr. Register in 2008, they hired a disciplined, hard-working, intelligent executive. (I understand he also plays golf and drinks the occasional beer.)

With this new promotion, he will continue to serve the bank well. Best wishes.
