The Fauquier Community Theatre presents this romantic comedy at Vint Hill Nov. 30 to Dec. 16.
The Fauquier Community Theatre, in its 41st season, presents the holiday musical, “She Loves Me.”
The musical opens Friday, Nov. 30 and runs Fridays through Sundays until Dec. 16.
The romantic comedy tells a heartwarming story that inspired the films “The Shop Around the Corner” and “You’ve Got Mail.”
Set in a 1930s European perfumery, shop clerks, Amalia and Georg, respond to a “lonely hearts advertisement” in the newspaper and they live for the love letters that they receive. The identity of their admirers remains unknown.
The play follows the clerks as they discover the identity of their true loves and along with several twists and turns.
“She Loves Me” premiered in 1964 and continues with many successful runs on Broadway.
The music is written by Jerry Bock and lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, both of “Fiddler on the Roof” fame. The musical is based on the book by Joe Masteroff who also authored “Cabaret.”
Diane King directs Fauquier Community Theatre’s production of “She Loves Me,” with vocal direction by Ivy Elizabeth, choreography by Laura Crowne and production by Laurie Bersack.
“When I discovered this gem of a show, I knew I had to share it with FCT’s audiences,” Ms. King said. “It is simply too brilliant to be kept hidden. It will be a bright spot in holiday activities.”
Performances will take place at the community theatre, 4225 Aiken Drive, Warrenton in Vint Hill.
Shows start at 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. on Sundays.
Adults, $20; students and seniors, $18.
