“Kettle Run graduate David Eldridge turned heads in the spring, but even he didn’t think he’d hit the field so soon as a true freshman at the University of Virginia.
“An injury to North Carolina transfer TJ Thorpe, who tore his ACL in August, changed all that. Eldridge said a conversation with Thorpe not long after the injury helped prepare him to see the first action of his career in the Rose Bowl against UCLA in the season opener.
“That really opened my eyes to the fact that it’s football and anything can happen,” Eldridge said. “I had to mature a lot faster than I expected, but he just told me to go out there and play football the way I always have.” > Click here to continue reading
