The Plains burglary suspect arrested in Maryland

Fauquier sheriff’s investigators seek help finding Cal Byren Kilby, who allegedly broke into The Front Porch Market and Grill last week.
Update Thursday, Oct. 3: U.S. Marshals arrested the suspect around noon Oct. 3. He has been turned over to Anne Arundel County (Md.) Police Department and awaits extradition to Fauquier County.

Fauquier sheriff’s detectives have identified a suspect — who remains at large — in last week’s burglary of a restaurant in The Plains.

Cal Byren Kilby faces arrest warrants for the crimes early Wednesday, Sept. 25, at The Front Porch Market and Grill.

Employees last Wednesday morning discovered a broken door window at the 6483 Main St. business and “an unspecified amount of money” missing from the cash register, Sgt. James Hartman said.

Employees reported the break-in at 6:43 a.m. Sept. 25.

Detectives reviewed video footage from the business and canvassed the area, finding no other burglaries, Sgt. Hartman said.

The investigation identified Mr. Kilby, described as 6-feet-4 and 220 pounds. Investigators described his vehicle as a blue Mazda 6 with Virginia license plates: VYT-1415. His last known address is in Front Royal.

Sgt. Hartman asked that anyone with information about the crime call the sheriff’s office at 540-347-3300. A caller’s identity may remain anonymous.
