The sixth annual Feed Fauquier food packing event will take place Saturday, Oct. 12, at the Warrenton Community Center.
Cornerstone Baptist Church organizers expect the event to eclipse more than 250,000 meals packed for Fauquier residents in need over the years.
The event needs 125 volunteers per hour at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. The organizers welcomes families, individuals, scout troops, school groups, soccer teams and businesses to help.
This quarter-million mark represents more than 2,000 participants, $72,000 raised and multiple people blessed over the past five years. There will be an honorary table of donors and recipients packing meals from 10 to 11 a.m., representing those who have made it happen.
“This is one event where everyone leaves with a smile on their face,” said Ron Keaton, a long-term volunteer and Cornerstone member.
Feed Fauquier supplies local food banks with meals for the coming year. Partners include Community Touch, Fauquier Community Food Bank, the Weekend Power Pack program and FISH.
People can register to participate at www.feedfauquier.org. The cost is $10 per participant, which goes entirely to purchase of the food.
Cornerstone wants to be “a community for the Fauquier community,” Pastor Mike Poff said.
