Former country store near Vint Hill burglarized

The Fauquier sheriff’s office seeks the public’s help solving the burglary of an unoccupied commercial property near Vint Hill.

The property owner on Monday reported the break-in that apparently took place at 4203 Lee Highway overnight Thursday, July 30, Sgt. Steve Lewis said. Someone removed the rear door from its hinges at the old Lunsford Country Store, according to the owner.

“The property owner reported an estimate of 40 packs of cigarettes were missing, two bottles of Jack Daniels and approximately five pocket knives,” Sgt. Lewis said. “A canvass of area businesses revealed no other burglaries. There are no suspects at this time. This incident remains under investigation.”

Anyone with information about the crime can call the Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office at 540-347-3300. A caller’s identity may remain anonymous.

Took a back door off it's hinges and ONLY got two bottles of Jack Daniels and a couple of knives??
Hardly seems worth the trouble

That place has looked vacant for years. Sounds like the owner should have a pretty good idea who did it.
