Upperville’s Hayden Eskew earns AP Scholar Award

Hayden Eskew
Foxcroft School senior Hayden Eskew of Upperville earned the 2020 AP Scholar Award from the College Board for outstanding achievement on Advanced Placement exams taken last spring.

Twenty-five students from Foxcroft, north of Middleburg in Loudoun County, earned 2020 AP Scholar Awards, and two of them achieved the rare National Scholar status.

Hayden and seven other Foxcroft students earned AP Scholars with Honor awards for scoring 3 or better on at least four tests, with an average of 3.25 on all exams taken.

It marks the 17th consecutive year that the independent school’s number of AP Scholars has reached double digits.

Two Foxcroft School students achieved the rare status of National Scholar to lead a group of 25 girls who earned 2020 AP Scholar Awards from the College Board for outstanding achievement on Advanced Placement Exams taken last spring.

Founded in 1914, Foxcroft School is a college-preparatory boarding and day school for girls in Grades 9-12. The school offers 75 courses, including 16 AP classes, a STEM program, athletic teams in 11 sports and has a nationally known riding program.

What is missing here is that the college board has signed contracts with districts and districts pay for their students to take the AP exams. They also have the schools administer PSAT to 9th and 10th graders for free and SAT for 11th graders for free. This would mean the college pimion board would have to pay districts back for the tests. As it stands now, districts already paid.
