Fauquier Health donates $2,000 to mental health

Fauquier Health CEO Chad Melton presented Mental Health Association of Fauquier County Executive Director Sallie Morgan with a $2,000 check as part of LifePoint Health’s 20th anniversary celebration.
Marking the 20th anniversary of its parent company, Fauquier Health this week contributed $2,000 to the Mental Health Association of Fauquier County.

Tennessee-based LifePoint Health, which owns the local hospital and affiliated businesses, made contributions of the same amount to causes in each of the 89 communities it serves nationwide.

Chad Melton, chief executive officer (CEO) of Fauquier Health said,

“In celebration of LifePoint’s 20th anniversary, we selected the Mental Health Association of Fauquier County,” Fauquier Health CEO Chad Melton said. “Our mission statement is making communities healthier. What better way to improve the lives of others than donating to a worthy organization.

“Mental health and access to care have become a growing problem in Fauquier County, and across the company. We hope our donation will make a difference in improving care locally.”

The parent company started in May 1999 as LifePoint Hospitals with 23 community hospitals in nine states. The name changed to LifePoint Health in 2015 to reflect the company’s evolution to providing a range of services.

LifePoint has 89 hospital campuses, more than 45 post-acute service providers and facilities and more than 50 outpatient facilities in 30 states. It has nearly 60,000 employees from coast to coast, including more than 3,000 employed providers and more than 8,600 affiliated providers.

A publicly-traded corporation, LifePoint in 2013 purchased non-for-profit Fauquier Health in 2013. Private equity firm Apollo Global Management last year purchased LifePoint.

Fauquier Health includes the 97-bed Fauquier Hospital, the 113-bed Fauquier Health Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, the assisted living facility Villa at Suffield Meadows, the Wound Health Center, the medically supervised Wellness Center and nine physicians’ offices.

“LifePoint is dedicated to creating places where people choose to come for healthcare, physicians want to practice and employees want to work,” said David Dill, president and CEO of LifePoint Health. “We are thrilled to be celebrating a 20-year legacy of Making Communities Healthier with our employees, physicians, board members and volunteers across the nation. We are proud of how far we have come in the last two decades and are excited to continue to collaborate with the talented team at Fauquier Health to advance our mission in the years ahead.”

I sure hope this isn't the extent of the hospital's annual contribution; it's the equivalent of a family of 8 enjoying a full course dinner and leaving a nickel tip. Highly profitable Apollo Management, the hospitals's owner, manages over 240 billion in assets and somehow makes a handy profit!. Two thousand dollars, while appreciated, does virtually nothing to enable The Mental Health Association to expand its services and mission., hire counselors, etc.
