Fauquier Health plans new OB/GYN, midwifery office
Fauquier Health has hired a second nurse midwife, Kathleen McClelland (left) to join Monica Freidline. They and two physicians will rotate between Warrenton and the new Gainesville office.
Fauquier Health plans to open an OB/GYN and midwifery office in Gainesville, the company announced last week.
It has hired a second certified nurse midwife, Kathleen McClelland, for the expansion.
Ms. McClelland and Monica Freidline, a nurse midwife who joined Fauquier Health last year, will rotate at the new office at 7915 Lake Manassas Drive. Dr. Barry Aron and Dr. Elise Diamond, the hospital’s OB/GYN physicians, also will rotate between the Warrenton and Gainesville offices.
The new Prince William County office will open late this month or in early March, according to Fauquier Health.
“Last year was a challenging year to say the least,” CEO Chad Melton said. “It is through those challenges that we focus on hope for the future and discover opportunities to grow. We are excited to welcome our newest Fauquier Health team member, Kathleen McClelland, certified nurse midwife.
“Adding a second midwife to our OB/GYN and Midwifery practice has given us the opportunity to open a second clinic to provide expanded access for current patients and residents living in the Gainesville, Haymarket, Linton Hall and Nokesville areas.”
Ms. McClelland has more than 40 years of clinical experience. She graduated from Kent State University in 1976 and completed post-graduate training at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville 1979. She attended Georgetown University for graduate midwifery education and graduated in 1991.
She will see clients by appointment for pregnancy confirmation, prenatal care and gynecology care, including family planning services. She will provide care during a woman's labor and the birth of her baby and postpartum care at Fauquier Hospital. As a midwife, Kathleen cares for healthy and low risk clients, collaborating with her medical colleagues whenever necessary. Her areas of specialty include women’s health management, contraceptive counseling, prenatal care, perinatal mood disorders, labor and delivery, postpartum care and support and perimenopause care
