Help needed to place flags at veterans’ graves Nov. 6

Volunteers on Saturday, Nov. 6, will place flags at the graves of 920 military veterans in the Warrenton Cemetery.
American Legion Post 72 seeks community volunteers to help place flags at veterans’ graves in advance of Veterans Day.

The “Flags in Project” will mark 920 burial sites in the Warrenton Cemetery, starting at 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 6.

Boy Scouts, military veterans and homeschool groups already have signed up to help. But, the effort needs more volunteers.

To join the effort, individuals or groups can email Lulu Baer at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or call the post home in Warrenton at 540-347-7740.

Volunteers also will be needed to help recover the flags, starting at 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 20.

“This is an excellent way to show respect and honor for our military,” Post 72 Commander Claude Davenport said.
