Hospital limits visitors because of the flu

Press release

Because of the increasing incidence of flu in the area, Fauquier Hospital’s open visitation policy will be temporarily restricted beginning Friday, January 12.

The following restrictions will be in place:

• Visitors with two or more of the following symptoms may not visit patients: fever, cough, sore throat, nasal congestion, headache or chills.

• No one under age 18 may visit the hospital, unless they are visiting a sibling in the Family Birthing Center.

• Only two visitors will be allowed to visit a patient in the hospital at any given time.

• Children should not come with patients to outpatient appointments, unless the appointment is for the child.

The decision to restrict visitors comes at the recommendation of the Virginia Department of Health; restrictions will be in place until flu season begins to abate.
