First Liberty High School Hall of Fame dinner Saturday

The first induction ceremony will take place Saturday, March 11, in the LHS cafeteria.
Retired Washington Redskins defense tackle Darryl Grant will deliver the keynote address.
Liberty High School will host its first “Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Dinner” Saturday, March 11.

Darryl Grant, a defensive tackle for the Washington Redskins from 1981 to 1990, who also played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1991, will deliver the keynote address. Mr. Grant contributed to the Redskins’ Super Bowl XVII and XXII wins, along with defensive line mainstays Dave Butz, Dexter Manley and Charles Mann, with Joe Gibbs at the helm.

The Liberty Athletic Boosters will induct these members of the first Hall of Fame class:

• Wes Hawkins, Liberty’s first state record holder.

• Coach Greg Carter, girls’ basketball coach and a member of Liberty’s staff since the school opened in 1994.

• The 1998 girls spring track team that earned Liberty’s first state team title.

• Dr. James Ramser, who has given his time and knowledge to keep Liberty’s athletes safe on and the field.

The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a reception in the LHS cafeteria. The dinner, catered by Messick’s Farm Market, and induction ceremony will begin at 6:15 p.m.
