Floyd killing “disgusts” Warrenton chief of police

By Michael Kochis
Warrenton Police Chief

As we continue to watch the incident in Minneapolis unfold, I feel like it is important for our community to hear from their chief of police. The video showing the murder of George Floyd is extremely disturbing and quite frankly disgusts me. I cannot think of any scenario where the force used on Mr. Floyd while handcuffed would be justified.

Every day your police officers serve this community with dignity and respect, and often times under very difficult situations. We enjoy tremendous support from our community and to that I say thank you.

I also realize that this support did not happen overnight and should never be taken for granted. The Warrenton Police Department has worked tirelessly over the years to foster strong relationships with its community and we continue to build on those relationships today.

From our Community Church Coalition to our Community Action Team that will be working on developing internal policies to ensure your police department is operating under 2`1st-century policing best practices. While this dialog is important, understanding the history of our community and our nation is just as important. Creating dialog and having these difficult conversations are the only ways to move forward in a productive manner.

I commit to our community that we will listen, we will act, and we will continue to be the model law enforcement agency that our community deserves.

AmericanPatriot - What's with you asking people when they "served"?

"when and where did 'fair and balanced' serve?"

Jealous that you couldn't pass the Physical Fitness Test or did your ASVAB come back scoring too low in all fields? Maybe it was your "bone spurs", I hear those can be really painful "IF" you have them, really convenient when you want to dodge the draft and have the money to pay off a doctor.

Mr. so-called Fair, I rarely provide clarifications to other Commenters, but for you I will suggest President Thomas Jefferson, had he been in office during the 1950s instead of the early 1800s, would have encouraged all of the sovereign, independent American States in our voluntary union to implement the 1954 Brown v. Board of Education decision on their own separate timelines and time tables to avoid the massive violence, racial strife and bloodshed and Marxist Revolution that instead came about by Federal enforcement of immediate, overnight de-segregation of the Brown decision. Privately, President Eisenhower was deeply concerned and might have preferred a more gradual, state-by-state desegregation time table in close coordination with local State conditions throughout the Union, but nonetheless reluctantly put aside his personal feelings and instead performed his constitutional responsibility to uphold the Federal law of the land handed down by the widely unpopular decision by the U.S. Supreme Court for instant, overnight desegregation and by order of the General District Court; and therefore he federalized the Arkansas National Guard in September, 1957 to restore local law, order, safety and security that had been thwarted by State and local Governments to be provided for both black students integrating Central High School and the white community at Little Rock who were not ready for the sweeping overnight changes.

To suggest that the SECDEF and small parade of Democrat and left-leaning Generals who are injecting their politics against President Trump are somehow justified- in their active undermining of a U.S. President who today faces a far more serious and deadly disintegration of public law, order, safety and security of the American people at the hands of the Antifa/BLM rioters, looters and murderers in the streets across America- than the threat faced by President Eisenhower in 1957- is not only unthinkable- it is preposterous. None of those political generals would dare criticize the Eisenhower doctrine for restoring law and order and public safety where local and State government authorities failed to do so.

Police officers in New York City cracked down on largely peaceful protesters gathering across the city Wednesday in defiance of a curfew.

Thousands of demonstrators stepped out in Manhattan and Brooklyn during the third night of a citywide curfew amid ongoing protests calling for dramatic police reform following the death of George Floyd. But the gatherings quickly escalated as the 8 p.m. restrictions set in, according to local reports.

“I can’t believe what I just witnessed & experienced. The force used on nonviolent protestors was disgusting. No looting/no fires. Chants of ‘peaceful protest,’” Williams wrote on Twitter. “What happened was completely avoidable.

The chairman of the joint chiefs of staff put himself at odds with Donald Trump Thursday in a memo telling troops to 'defend the Constitution' and saying the National Guard was not under federal control - as retired generals including Jim Mattis denounced the president's handling of the George Floyd protests.

Army General Mark Milley said in a letter to top military leaders that armed forces will continue to protect Americans' right to 'freedom of speech and peaceful assembly,' as the president has called in troops to defend Washington, D.C.

'We all committed our lives to the idea that is America,' Milley hand-wrote in as an addition to the bottom of the letter. 'We will stay true to that and the American people.'

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Three Nevada men with ties to a loose movement of right-wing extremists advocating the overthrow of the U.S. government have been arrested on terrorism-related charges in what authorities say was a conspiracy to spark violence during recent protests in Las Vegas.

Federal prosecutors say the three white men with U.S. military experience are accused of conspiring to carry out a plan that began in April in conjunction with protests to reopen businesses closed because of the coronavirus.

More recently, they sought to capitalize on protests over the death of George Floyd, a black man who died in Minneapolis after a white officer pressed his knee into his neck for several minutes even after he stopped moving and pleading for air, prosecutors said.

President Donald Trump is facing an unprecedented revolt from the elite corps of ex-military leaders and presidents over his brazen response to mass protests and inflaming of racial divides.
In a true Washington bombshell on Wednesday evening, former Defense Secretary James Mattis, a warrior revered by his troops, told Americans they must come together without the President.
Also on Wednesday evening, retired Gen. John Allen, the former commander of American forces in Afghanistan, took his own turn at attacking Trump's response in a commentary published by Foreign Policy.
The message from Mattis broke on another extraordinary day in which it emerged that Esper may be on borrowed time after holding a news conference in which he said that regular troops should be used as law enforcement only as a last resort.
"We are not in one of those situations now," Esper told reporters. "I do not support invoking the Insurrection Act,."
His comments angered the White House, where multiple sources said he had already frustrated Trump.
Other senior military and political figures, including former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mike Mullen, have also felt compelled to speak out as they perceive core American values threatened by an unchained commander in chief.
All of these comments come after Jimmy Carter completed the roster of living ex-presidents who have stepped into a leadership void left by Trump as the nation experiences mass protests in the wake of the death of George Floyd, a pandemic that has killed 107,000 Americans and a consequent economic meltdown.

Two U.S. Park Police officers have been assigned administrative duties while an investigation is conducted on an attack on an Australian TV crew covering the protests in D.C.

“As is consistent with our established practices and procedures, two U.S. Park Police officers have been assigned to administrative duties, while an investigation takes place regarding the incident with the Australian Press,” Park Police Chief Gregory Monahan said in a statement.

The incident occurred Monday live on air on the program “Sunrise.” Video shows reporter Amelia Brace and a cameraman Tim Myers knocked down.

The Committee to Protect Journalists said there have been at least 125 press freedoms violations over three days of protests in the U.S.

West Point mafia lol. They might hold influence but at least they haven’t started a new war unlike mattis who wanted to have all out war in Syria. I will take the so called mafia over mattis and his cronies any day. Arrest the boogaloo just like they should arrest antifa. One other thing why wasn’t mattis or his cronies telling people how bad Afghanistan is. Read the Afghan papers story from the Washington post. All mattis or his cronies would tell people was how well it was going there. All of it was bs. But I’m sure they were scared of Obama firing them if they spoke out . Just like when Obama fired McChrystal when he spoke out. Or when he railroaded Petraeus for speaking out.

Because it keeps them and their buddy’s employee once they retire and go become board members or CEO’s of a defense contractor.

With respect to General Mattis, it is both deeply reprehensible and preposterous he would fan the flames of our present national crises by his public criticism of President Trump only following the precedent set by former U.S. Presidents, most notably General Dwight D. Eisenhower- who saved the lives of both the black students ordered by the General District Court to begin integration of Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas (and by extension, no doubt saving lives of the hostile white demonstrators as well) by federalizing the National Guard and sending them in to restore peace and order to Little Rock after State and local authorities failed to maintain public order and public safety, and failed to uphold the General District Court Order. Some of the commenters here need to read President Eisenhower's words in his letter to U.S. Senator John Stennis on why he federalized the Arkansas National Guard in 1957 during continued local mob violence and usurpation of our U.S. Constitutional protections by State and local authorities in Little Rock:

“First, as to the mission of Federal soldiers in Little Rock,
I emphasize that they are there not to enforce or to
advance any governmental policy respecting integration,
desegregation, or segregation. They are there, simply,
because the normal processes of law have been
frustrated. Due to the State use of force, first, to block
Federal court orders, due next to State refusal to use
troops to prevent mobs from blocking Federal court
orders, and due finally to local inability to comply with
Federal court orders because of mob violence
unrestrained by State authorities, other than normal
means had to be found to uphold the law. State and
local agencies being either unwilling or unable to
uphold the law, it became imperatively necessary that
the law be upheld by the Federal Government.”

I would find it despicable and preposterous for General Mattis to criticize President Eisenhower's constitutional responsibility in 1957 to ensure the laws of our land were enforced and to maintain the public order, safety and security of ALL citizens of Little Rock, Arkansas- in addition to all American citizens. And it is equally despicable and preposterous for General Mattis today to politicize the current actions of U.S. President Donald Trump to use whatever constitutional and legal means at his disposal to restore law, order, public safety and security across the nation where mob violence is currently out of control today on a size and scale never seen in our nation's history.

In his September 5, 1957 telegram response to Arkansas Governor Orval Faubus, President Eisenhower minced no words stating in part:

"When I became President, I took an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States. The only assurance I can give you is that the Federal Constitution will be upheld by me by every legal means at my command."

"At the request of Judge Davies, the Department of Justice is presently collecting facts as to interference with or failure to comply with the District Court's order. You and other State officials- as well as the National Guard which, of course, is uniformed, armed and partially sustained by the Government, will, I am sure, give full cooperation to the United States District Court."

When Governor Faubus and local Little Rock officials failed to maintain law and order and to uphold the (vastly unpopular) General District Court Order, President Eisenhower- regardless of his private feelings on the matter- understood he had a constitutional responsibility as U.S. President to enforce the law of the land and to restore local order and safety to ALL citizens of Little Rock.

General Mattis has just proven he is unqualified to shine the leftover shoes at the Eisenhower Farm in Gettysburg worn by the late President with his criticism of our current Commander-In-Chief during this national crisis- implying he is just fine with allowing cities to burn, and innocent Americans to be murdered and their property destroyed by lawless, violent, anti-American revolutionaries.

FairandBalanced Do you even know why Mattis resigned.? It was because Trump wanted to pull the troops out of syia and mattis wanted to keep troops there to get killed and injured. All of our troops need to come home from all the war zones 20 yrs is enough These generals and politicians who want endless wars need to shut up. Looks like trump was right about syria and mattis was wrong. Do you know that mattis also blasted obama and the way he handle the cafe milano bombing that iran wanted to pull off to kill some saudi diplomats in down town dc. So mattis is butthurt that trump was right on syria and he was just waiting to the right time to blast trump on something . If the governors or mayors of these citys cant control the violent protesters then trump needs to send in the troops if they dont want the national guard just like Johnson did in 68 with school intergration in arkansas

Mattis’s dissatisfaction with Trump was no secret inside the Pentagon. But after his resignation, he argued publicly—and to great criticism—that it would be inappropriate and counterproductive for a former general, and a former Cabinet official, to criticize a sitting president. Doing so, he said, would threaten the apolitical nature of the military.

this just came out two hours ago. circulating among us military folks....
James Mattis, the esteemed Marine general who resigned as secretary of defense in December 2018 to protest Donald Trump’s Syria policy, has, ever since, kept studiously silent about Trump’s performance as president. But he has now broken his silence, writing an extraordinary broadside in which he denounces the president for dividing the nation, and accuses him of ordering the U.S. military to violate the constitutional rights of American citizens.

The Army was making plans to send home active-duty soldiers who were dispatched to the Washington, D.C., area to bolster security amid unrest, but the plan was reversed on Wednesday after a meeting at the White House involving the defense secretary, defense officials said.

The meeting occurred after Defense Secretary Mark T. Esper said in a news conference on Wednesday that he did not support invoking a law that would permit President Trump to use active-duty troops on American streets in response to the unrest.

Police in Virginia have come under fire after a video of two officers appearing to spit on a detained protester emerged on social media on Tuesday evening.

The video, which first appeared on Twitter, was captured during a demonstration on Monument Avenue, in downtown Richmond, during the fourth night of protests sparked by the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis last week.

In the footage, a detained female protester is seen sitting in front of a group of 10 police officers with her hands bound behind her back.

One police officer appears to lean over and spit on the woman, as angered protesters watch on in disgust.

Richmond, Virginia, Police Chief Will Smith choked back tears during a press conference in describing how rioters torched a home with a child inside and then blocked firefighters from responding.

“Last night, protesters intentionally set a fire to an occupied building on Broad Street,” Chief Smith told reporters Sunday. “This is not the only occupied building that has been set fire to over the last two days, but they prohibited us from getting on scene. We had to force our way to make a clear path for the fire department. Protesters intercepted that fire apparatus several blocks away with vehicles and blocked that fire department’s access to the structure fire. Inside that home was a child.

This is not protesting, this is domestic terrorism, and all those who support it are equally guilty.

Think about that, you virtue signalling fools.

President Donald Trump on Wednesday denied that he was rushed to a White House bunker during anti-racism protests last week out of concern for his safety, claiming he had merely dropped by the underground shelter to inspect it.

Trump spent nearly an hour in the bunker, which was designed for use in emergencies like terrorist attacks, a Republican close to the White House told The Associated Press.
