Warrenton interchange ramp opens next week
Ramp C will open next week, eliminating detours for southbound traffic leaving the community college, the landfill and houses on the west side of the highway.
The new Routes 15/17/29 interchange at Warrenton’s southern edge will near its final configuration Tuesday, Aug. 25, with the opening of a new ramp for southbound traffic.
Weather permitting, the ramp opening will connect the roundabout on the west (Warrenton) side to the acceleration ramp to southbound Routes 15/17/29 toward Opal. Motorists also will notice traffic pattern changes on Business Routes 15/17/29, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.
The temporary detour via Route 643 (Meetze Road) will end.
Until the project’s completion in late November, motorists will continue to see crews working near the travel lanes and should expect lane closures in both directions on Routes 15/17/29 and flagging operations on Lord Fairfax Drive, according to VDOT. The slip ramps near each roundabout will remain closed to traffic for construction vehicle access.
The contractor still needs to complete biking/walking path, commuter parking lot, landscaping and lighting.
Under a $19.6 million contract, design-build contractor Shirley Contracting Co. LLC of Lorton, with design services from Dewberry of Fairfax, has worked since February 2018 on the new interchange, with two roundabouts connecting all points of travel.

Are you ashamed for voting Democrats? Well you should be. Democrats are hateful, divisive racists. Only somebody as clueless as you - who can get lost on a clearly marked intersection - can vote Democrats.

Umm, Patrick Jones, The signage as it is right now is awful, misleading, and downright dangerous. The intersection design is not intuitive to drivers. I made no reference whatsoever to politics in my comment. So sorry you felt the need to post a childish comment thinking you were insulting me.

Thank you. Silii. You are right, democrats should not be allowed to move outside all by themselves, they lack the IQ and overall comprehension to live without supervision and guidance.

Drove this yesterday just to test it. Ended up stuck in the traffic circle like Clark Griswald. After 15 minutes of circling looking for the sign that said "The Dump" after 20 minutes, I exited towards Home Depot in a panic.
No, actually I know how to read signs and drive. Works perfectly. No backup on highway anymore. Whoever is in charge of this needs a bonus. Completed ahead of schedule. Good job. Construction Worker Lives Matter.

Drove this the other day just to test it. Awful. Current signage is useless and confusing. Do they think we can just stop in a traffic lane to figure out the signs? There are no signs directly drivers to LFCC or the dump. Who is in charge of this? They need to be replaced. Expect a lot of wrecks at this 'improvement.'
