Murphy’s Metalworks, affiliated with Murphy’s Motorsports on Broadview Avenue, fabricated the u-shaped racks, which can accommodate two bikes apiece. Town public works employees installed them near Town Hall, Britches Great Outdoors and the Warrenton Presbyterian Church.
“We know there are many cyclists in and around Old Town Warrenton, and there was clearly a need for bike racks,” EOTW Executive Director Charity Furness said. “We’re thrilled to provide this amenity for riders and thankful to Murphy’s Metalworks for producing such a high-quality product.”
Warrenton Mayor Carter Nevill said: “The number of bikes sold locally in the past year matches national numbers. We’re seeing a dramatic increase in people choosing cycling as their mode of transportation; the Town recognized this and took steps to make cyclists feel welcome.”
