The left lanes of Route 29 north and south will close from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday for paving. One lane in each direction will remain open.
Paving will constrict traffic, increasing congestion in Opal this week.
The left lanes of Route 29 in Opal will close 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Wednesday through Friday for paving operations, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation. The work is part of a project to modify the median breaks and extend turn lanes just north of Opal Road (Route 678).
During the paving work, one lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction, but motorists should slow down and follow signs and lane restrictions as they approach the work zone, VDOT said.
