Scouting for Food drive Saturday, Nov. 14

The annual “Scouting for Food” campaign to help feed the needy will operate differently this month.

Traditionally, Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts have gone door-to-door to collect donated food.

Because of the pandemic, the scouts ask donors to deliver food from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, to either:

• Warrenton United Methodist Church at 341 Church St.

• Brookside Clubhouse parking lot, 7197 Riley Road, Warrenton.

“This year, more than ever, our Piedmont District scouts need your help collecting food for our community,” the scouts said in a press release. “Local families need help putting food on the table. This is such a great way to give back to the community where we live, work, and play.

“Just drive up, pop the trunk, and our scouts will remove the food from your car and off you go!”

Warrenton Boy Scout Troop 175 and Cub Scout Pack 1166 will conduct the food drive.

Please consider donating gluten free foods such as Jasmine rice, oatmeal, rice krispies etc. People who live off fixed incomes are at risk for glutamine deficiencies and gluten is harder to digest. God bless the Boy's Scouts of America.
