Michael “Sean” Thomson has 20 years of experience in the healthcare industry.
Michael “Sean” Thomson has joined Fauquier Health as its new chief financial officer.

Mr. Thomson succeeds Lionel Phillips, who retired after decades in the position.

The new CFO has more than 20 years of experience. Mr. Thomson most recently held the same position at Methodist Southlake Hospital in Texas, where he focused on financial improvement and strategic growth. He previously worked at Hospital Corporation of America in Nashville and as CFO at Medical City of Fort Worth in Texas.

“Sean’s financial background and vast experience working in a variety of healthcare settings will make him a vital part of the Fauquier Health team,” CEO Chad Melton said. “Upon coming to Fauquier County, Sean immediately felt ingrained and vested in our community. We know he will accomplish great things here.”

Mr. Thomson earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Kentucky in 1993. He has served on the chamber of commerce board in Southlake, the chamber financial board in Fredericksburg and Richmond Ambulance Authority board in Richmond.

“I’m very excited to join the fabulous team at Fauquier Health,” he said. “I look forward to using my past experiences to assist in the health system’s continued growth. Fauquier Health has an excellent reputation and has made significant strides in providing additional complex services, such as a new Center for Cancer Care, cardiac catheterization services and a Center for Weight Loss — as well as robotic-assisted surgery — all areas I look forward to building within the community.”

Mr. Thomson lives in Fredericksburg with his wife and three children. He enjoys golf, hiking and skiing.
