Smith-Midland promotes Stephanie Poe to controller

Smith-Midland Corp., which manufactures and installs precast concrete products, has promoted Stephanie Poe from accounting manager to controller.
After working four years in the accounting department, Ms. Poe’s new duties at Smith-Midland include coordinating and preparing internal and external financial statements, coordinating with external auditors and evaluating internal control systems to maintain compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley. She will also oversee regulatory reporting and all accounting operational functions, including developing and monitoring business performance metrics to help Smith-Midland meet its goals.
“Stephanie provides the leadership and skillset required as the controller of Smith-Midland,” Chief Financial Officer AJ Krick said. “She has been an integral part of the team by improving reporting, controls and compliance, while also creating a professional and fun atmosphere in the workplace. A Fauquier County native and Liberty High School graduate, Ms. Poe earned a field hockey scholarship to Appalachian State University in North Carolina, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting. She also has a master’s in accounting from George Mason University. A certified public accountant in Virginia, she previously worked for Ernst & Young as a tax accountant.
Headquartered in Southern Fauquier, Smith-Midland has plants here and in Reidsville, N.C., and Columbia, S.C.
