Southbound ramp closed as interchange work continues

Southbound traffic from Business Routes 15/17/29 must use the traffic signal or an alternate route.
The acceleration lane from Business Routes 15/17/29 toward Opal has closed as part of the interchange project interchange construction project at Warrenton’s southern end.

The closure requires southbound vehicles from town to turn right at the traffic signal or to use an alternate route.

The closure will remain in place until summer as Shirley Contracting builds new ramps for the interchange, which will eliminate the traffic signals and backups at the busy intersection.

“Drivers should plan extra travel time. especially during peak travel periods,” VDOT said in a press release.

The $27-million interchange should open late this year.
