Fauquier Springs Country Club has announced a new management team.
Glenn Payne joined the club near Warrenton as general manager Nov. 1. A Fauquier County native and a 32-year PGA member, Mr. Payne served as an assistant pro at Fauquier Springs in the early 1990s. His experience as a general manager and head pro have taken him to South Carolina and several area courses, including his most recent stop as GM and head golf pro at Shenvalee Golf Resort in New Market.
Speaking at the members’ welcoming party, Mr. Payne said, “it feels good to be home.”
The club’s new course superintendent, Scott Cornwell, started Oct. 13.
Mr. Cornwell attended Liberty High School and spent his teen years at
“The Springs” tending to members’ clubs and cart needs. For the last few years he worked as course superintendent at River Creek Country Club in Leesburg. Prior to that, he was the senior assistant superintendent at the Robert Trent Jones Country Club in Gainesville.
Head Golf Pro Lee Jatkevicius also joined Fauquier Springs in the fall, overseeing the pro shop and ongoing tournament schedule as well as the various in-house golf groups that play nearly every day.
A Wilbraham, Mass., native Mr. Jatkevicius has a master’s degree in sports management and experience coaching baseball in high school and college. He served as an assistant pro at Bridgton Highlands Country Club in Maine. He holds his golf instruction certification from USGTF.
