Fauquier Health recently named Wellness Center Supervisor and COVID-19 Vaccine Coordinator Taylor Bireley as the hospital’s 2021 Mercy Award winner.
The Mercy Award recognizes one employee from each of LifePoint Health hospital “who profoundly touches the lives of others and best represents the spirit and values on which the company was founded.”
Established in 2002, the award honors the life and contributions of Scott Mercy, LifePoint’s founding chairman and CEO. It is considered the highest honor a LifePoint employee can receive.
An exercise physiologies, Ms. Bireley has been with Fauquier Health three years. At the Fauquier Health Wellness Center, she oversees exercise based programs and massage therapy.
Over the last year, she also took on responsibilities as Fauquier Health’s COVID-19 vaccine coordinator, working closely with Fauquier County Fire/Rescue and other departments, the Town of Warrenton and Rappahannock-Rapidan Health District. The organizations in January set up the Warrenton vaccination clinic that has administered more than 26,000 vaccinations to community members.
Fauquier Health colleagues have praised Ms. Bireley’s work.
“She has spearheaded the vaccine clinic and has put together a wonderful team of professionals who have vaccinated the public,” one said. “Taylor goes above and beyond for these clinics and works tirelessly to make sure as many as possible receive the vaccine. She is a true example of making communities healthier.”

We are extremely proud to recognize her hard work on behalf of our staff, patients, and community members. She goes above and beyond each and every day and has truly excelled during a very challenging time.”
With each local hospital winner across the country, Ms. Bireley will be considered for LifePoint’s 2021 companywide Mercy Award. The company will announce and honor the winner in the fall.
A Fauquier High School graduate, Ms. Bireley earned a bachelor’s degree from James Madison University in 2011. She completed a 320-hour internship at Rockingham Memorial Hospital that year, before starting a career that has included positions with the Powell Wellness Center in Culpeper, Sport & Health and Fauquier Health.
