Thankful for those who teach, support our children

Teacher appreciation sign at Greenville Elementary in May 2021.

In this season of Thanksgiving, I want to thank all of the teachers, administrators and staff of the Fauquier County Public Schools.

Thank you to all of the teachers in this county who do so much every single day for our children. Thank you for all that you teach them, but thank you also for all of the kindness and love that you show them every day.

Thank you for the countless hours you spend planning creative lessons for your students. Those lessons so often not only communicate the material that needs to be learned, but add fun and joy to their day at the same time.

Thank you for being a positive, consistent presence in their lives. Thank you for going the extra mile to make special events and celebrations continue to happen. You are making a difference in the lives of the children of this county every day, and by extension, the lives of the families of this county.

Thank you to all of the administrators who, despite having full inboxes and calendars, are spending a lot of time with our children in classrooms, in the cafeteria, on the playground and at special events. As busy as you are, you are making important connections with students and you are serving as role models in their lives. Your willingness to take on any task great or small does not go unnoticed. Thank you for the many things that you do each and every day to support the students, teachers, and families in your school communities.

Thank you to our school nurses, cafeteria staff, custodians, office personnel, school counselors, ITRTs, security and resource officers, bus drivers and transportation staff. Each of you contribute in a special way toward making sure our children can have a safe, healthy, and successful day in their school buildings. Every one of you, along with the talents that you bring to work every day to help our kids and the school community, are truly appreciated.

On top of navigating a pandemic in your own lives over the last 21 months, you have had to navigate many, many, challenges at work. Thank you for continuing to persevere through these challenges and for continuing to show up for our children each and every day. I am thankful for all that you do for our kids.
