Unlocked vehicles entered overnight in Bealeton area

The sheriff’s office recommends a nightly ritual for protecting vehicles and other property.
The Fauquier sheriff’s office received reports of “numerous” unlocked vehicles that someone entered Monday night and/or early Tuesday morning in the Bealeton area.

“Some of the streets affected were Grimbert Court, Reynard Fox Land and King Noble Court, all in the Station Drive area,” Sgt. James Hartman said. “Deputies conducted a neighborhood canvass, however, if you find that your vehicle was entered and/or you have property missing, please contact the sheriff's office at 540-347-3300.

“Additionally, anyone with suspicious activity on home security video is asked to contact the sheriff’s office.”

Sgt. Hartman reminded citizens “to hide valuables and lock your doors. Use the ‘9 p.m. Routine.’ Set an alarm or other reminder for 9 p.m. to hide valuables and lock your doors, especially on vehicles in your driveway.”

A few years back, when I lived in Vint Hill, somebody went through all my cars one night. Didn't take anything. But smoked in all my cars!! Even ashed on the seat!! When I called the police, they immediately asked me if I lived in Vint Hill. Guy was busy, apparently.

Anyways, I keep all my cars locked at all times now. But, in the glovebox of one car I left a bottle with a couple of percocets left over from some dental work. I went to look for it recently after spraining my ankle. Gone!! I have no idea when or how.

Be vigilant!
