“The investigation confirmed the student posted lyrics to a song that included a perceived threat,” the sheriff’s office said in a press release.
Sheriff’s deputies and school administrators Wednesday questioned a Warrenton Middle School student who made “a perceived threat” on social medial.

The Fauquier sheriff’s office issued this press release Thursday afternoon:

On the morning of Wednesday, January 15, 2020, law enforcement and Warrenton Middle School administration were made aware of a post on Instagram that contained threatening language directed at the school. The individual making the post was identified. Deputies responded to the school and coordinated with school administration.
The identity of the individual making the Instagram post was confirmed to be a student. The student was located and it was determined there was no immediate threat to the school campus. Other interviews were conducted and the investigation confirmed the student posted lyrics to a song that included a perceived threat. Upon further scrutiny it was determined there was not a credible threat to the school.
The student was released into the custody of a parent. Deputies are presenting probable cause to Juvenile Intake authorities to determine possible criminal charges.
The Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office and Fauquier County Public Schools continue to work together to provide a safe environment for students and faculty.
