Three young Fauquier marksmen have earned elite national status.

Warrenton Rifles members Sean Hardy, Sam Oravec and Abram Baer have received the Civilian Marksmanship Program’s Junior Distinguished Shooter Gold Badge for Three-Position Air Rifle.

School-age shooters earn the badge by attaining a series of high rankings in major junior air rifle championships. Those competitions include state Junior Olympic qualifiers, CMP Cup matches, the National Junior Olympic Championships and other national council three-position air rifle championships.

CMP has awarded just 1,063 Junior Distinguished Shooter Gold Badges in the program’s 15-year existence.

The Warrenton Rifles are sponsored by the John D. Sudduth American Legion Post 72 in Warrenton and Fauquier County 4-H shooting sports programs.

SUPER CONGRATS! I am proud of your skill & dedication and I do not even know you. I am also glad that this was reported as the fantastic achievement it is! The FIRST US Olympic gold in Rio was in also marksmanship and that poor girl took a ton of abuse in other parts of this country by the Anti-Gun zombies who mindlessly repeat what lies they have been told.....but once again way to go in representing this community to the young men and the FN e-newspaper!!!!!
