Warrenton seeks ideas on health, parks and recreation

Warrenton’s health, parks and recreation committee wants ideas on ways to make the town a better place to live, work and play.

With the new initiative, “100 Ways in 100 Days: Improving Warrenton,” residents, business owners and visitors can submit ideas on how to improve the quality of life in town.

The committee hopes to receive 100 small, cost-effective and implementable ideas that have a big impact within 100 days.

After the brainstorming period, the committee will review suggestions and work to implement them.

“Asking our residents and businesses what they want to see, do, and be a part of in their community only makes sense,” councilmember and committee chair Sean Polster (At-large) said.

“We often hear there is nothing for our youth to do, but that meaning is different to everybody,” Mr. Polster said. “We’re looking for small ideas that we can implement or work with a partner to bring to fruition to improve the quality of life for all.”

The town government, a non-profit or civic group may implement the ideas.

Excellent Idea - How about a Walking Club that walks ALL the trails in and around the Town? What better way to see where all the dead ends and potential connections are?

Walking club ( greenway), in evening. People need to exercise at night after work to distress. It is often scarey to go alone. Have a coach from one of the local gyms to coordinate (free marketing for the gym)
Outdoor wine and design.
Tuesday, hamburger for dinner. Have local restaurants put it on and have a raffle which restaurant donates a free dinner for 2. Monies go to Fauquier county..
Teen dance in the park. Saturday night. Provide more social opportunities for teens.
Outdoor movie. Have popcorn for sale. Bring your own blanket
