Youngkin in town Thursday for GOP campaign rally

Republican candidate for governor Glenn Youngkin will appear at an Oct. 14 campaign event in Warrenton’s Eva Walker Park.
Republican candidate for governor Glenn Youngkin will attend a campaign rally Thursday afternoon in Warrenton.

The Fauquier County Republican Committee will host the event from noon to 1:30 p.m. Oct. 14 at Eva Walker Park on Alexandria Pike.

The rally will include speeches and lunch.

Polls show a very close race between Mr. Youngkin, a retired private equity firm CEO, and Democratic nominee Terry McAuliffe, who served as governor from 2014 to 2018.

The ballot also includes Libertarian candidate Princess Blanding.

Virginia’s Constitution limits governors to two, non-consecutive terms.

Thursday’s event will mark the first public appearance of a major party candidate for governor in Fauquier during this year’s campaign. Mr. Youngkin earlier this year attended a fundraiser at the Upperville home of state Sen. Jill Vogel (R-27th) and her husband Alex.

The Nov. 2 general election ballot includes Virginia’s governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general and all 100 members of the House of Delegates.

Early voting started Sept. 17.
