Obituaries » Charles E. Green Sr.

Charles E. Green Sr., known as “Charlie,” “Dad,” “Pop” and “Grandpa,” 77, of Sterling, passed away suddenly June 19, 2020, in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, because of injuries sustained in an accidental fall.

By the grace of God, his beloved son, Chuck, and his brothers, Tommy and Greg, were by his side as he passed into Heaven.

Left to mourn this overwhelming loss is the love of his life, soulmate, best friend and wife of more 57 years, Fran; their son, Chuck (Mic) Green; daughters Vicki (fur-son Max) Green and Jenny (Jim) Wooldridge; grandchildren Brandon and Tanner Green, Jessica and Rachel Wetsel, Cassie, Jimmy, Amber and Emily Wooldridge; granddog and constant companion in yard work, Max; surviving siblings, Jimmy (Carolyn) Green, Betsy Colwill, Susan (Lynn) Campbell, Tom (Holley) Green, and Greg (Linda) Green, and so many loved, ever-so special nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents Maurice Kelly and Catherine LaBonne Green.

Besides his beloved family and grandkids, his 1967 SS Camaro Convertible (aka “POPS SS:) was his pride and joy. His other passions included cruise-ins, car shows, Northern Virginia Senior Softball (NVSS), backyard cornhole “king” and in prior years, his love of volleyball and all things boating. On summer weekends, Charlie and Fran could be found at one of their favorite places, Lake Anna. So many countless great times at Lake Anna boating, tubing, water skiing, boogie boarding, riding the jet ski, camping — absorbing all the lake has to offer Most of all, Pop just enjoyed time with his family and awesome friends.

A bright light in our hearts has gone out, our sadness beyond consoling. Pop, we will see you in every classic car, hear you in every rev of an engine and feel your absence every day. We love you. May you look over us until we meet again.

The service and interment were private.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project or your local animal shelter.
