Charlotte Townsend Kearnes, 80, passed peacefully on Wednesday, March 18, 2020, at her home in Martinsburg, W.Va.
She was born May 11, 1939, in The Plains, to the late, Charles and Estelle Gray.
Charlotte was employed as a waitress at Frost Diner in Warrenton for many years, then she went to work for Marshall Middle School as a cafeteria worker for several years.
Her passion was playing Bingo; “she loved it.” Even as her health begin to deteriorate she still played when she could manage too.
Charlotte is survived by her three children, Harrison A. Kearnes of Front Royal, John R. Kearnes and his wife Nancy of Marshall, and Sydney T. Kearnes of Martinsburg, W.Va.; five grandchildren, Candice Bobst and husband Jason of Fredericksburg, Stacey Kearnes and Jason Kearnes, both of Chesapeake, Ashley Gaskins and husband Spencer of Kingsport, Tennessee, and Joey Kearnes also of Kingsport, and seven great grandchildren, Dylan, Griffin, Tatum, Brian, Hunter and others living in Tennessee
In addition to her parents, Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph A. Kearnes; two sisters, Rebecca Smith and Shirley Fletcher, and a brother, Harrison Cannard.
Charlotte will be buried with her husband at Culpeper National Cemetery.
