Eleanor Mae Street, 80, of Front Royal, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 23, 2021, in Leesburg.
She was January 13, 1941, in Culpeper, to the late John and Gladys Kennedy.
Eleanor worked a manager at the Shenandoah Motel in Front Royal for more than 25 years, until she was diagnosed with dementia a couple years ago. She was known as a very independent woman who only feared her Lord and Savior. The feistiness that she had resulted in her being known as the “Warden,” per her youngest son. Eleanor developed many relationships over those years and had a positive influence on many people around her while she lived and worked in Front Royal. Eleanor regularly attended Freedom Baptist Church of Front Royal until her health started to diminish.
Eleanor is survived by her six children, Johnny Kerns of Front Royal, Tipton Kerns and his wife Mildred of Spotsylvania, Donald Kerns and his wife Barbara of Front Royal, Sam Kerns of Front Royal, Bobby Kerns of Warrenton and Bonnie Auclair and her husband David of Harrisonburg; 12 grandchildren, Joey, Nellie, Jeremy, Becky, James, Wendy, Laura, Mollie, Michael, Greg, Josh and Clifton; 11 great-grandchildren, and two nieces, Diane Jeffries and Dolly Wright.
In addition to her parents, Eleanor was preceded in death by her two sisters, Lucy Fitzgerald and Shirley Ann Anderson.
The family will receive visitors from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, August 28, at Moser Funeral Home, with the service to follow. Interment will take place at Little Georgetown cemetery near Broad Run.
