Helen Frances Elmore, 90, of Warrenton, died January 4, 2021.
She was born July 24, 1930, in Greensboro, North Carolina, to the late William Aaron
and Verla Mae Messer
She grew up and met her late husband, George, in the small town of Dunn,
North Carolina. They moved to the D.C. area for new work opportunities and years later settled
their children and family business in Warrenton.
Helen was the quintessential matriarch of the home at the time. She cooked memorable meals
we miss to this day, but also worked as the key right hand of their burgeoning business. She
worked and loved as a mother, grandmother, church leader, aunt, sister and friend at all times
— while successfully balancing the day-to-day managerial and bookkeeping roles for the family
business. Helen gracefully and gently moved in and out of each role with ease. She was
meticulous, funny, strong, light-hearted, caring, kind, and generous. She has been and will be
missed.
She is survived by her children, Henry Elmore, Victoria Elmore, Kathryn Elmore and Christa Elmore; 23
grandchildren, and 36 great-grandchildren.
Her eldest son, Clif Elmore, predeceased her in 1997.
The service will take place at 2 p.m. Friday, January 8, at Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton. The family will receive friends for one hour before the service. Burial will follow at Bright View Cemetery near Warrenton.
