Obituaries » James R. Bartholomew

The Reverend Doctor James R. Bartholomew, 67, of Remington, joined the Lord on May 17, 2020, at the Hunter Holmes McGuire Veterans Administration Medical Center in Richmond.

James “Richard” Bartholomew was a member of Bealeton Baptist Church and recent Pastor at Calverton Baptist Church in Midland. He was a Sergeant in the United States Army. He received his Doctor of Ministry at Lake Charles Bible College (Louisiana); Master of Divinity Degree with Languages from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (North Carolina), Ordained at First Baptist Church (Fairmount, N.C.) and Bachelor of Arts, Religion and Philosophy at Bluefield College (Bluefield, Va.). Pastor, Assisted Care Facility at Savannah Grand-Town Lake (Woodstock, Ga. from 2003 to 2008) and Pastor, Swan Quarter Baptist Church (Swan Quarter, N.C. from 1999 to 2003).

Richard was preceded in death by his mother, father and one brother. He loved the Lord, his family, his country and was a friend to all. 

He is survived by his wife, Cathy, three sons, one grandson, two sisters, two brothers, one sister-in-law, mother-in-law, father-in-law and many friends. 

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, a limited viewing service will be held 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 23, at Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton. Burial will be private. 

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital or the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans.
