John Ernest McNeil, 95, of Warrenton, passed away peacefully after a long illness on March 25, 2021, the Feast of the Annunciation.
John served honorably during World War II in the Canadian Army. He was an amateur boxer in Boston, which he enjoyed. He was a food chemist for many years with the federal government, most recently with the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
He is survived by his adopted family, Edward and Theresa Campbell and their three children, Dylan, Joyce and Kayla.
He was predeceased by his wife, Lolita in 2013.
A visitation will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, at Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 7, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Warrenton. Burial will follow at Pohick Cemetery in Lorton.
