Michael Kristensen Tilford, 62, of Warrenton, died Tuesday, November 10, 2020, at his home in the Bethel Academy subdivision.

Mike was born, July 22, 1958, in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania. He was employed with the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, was co-owner of entertainment company Legion M, and held numerous positions in the information technology and computer engineering industry. Mike traveled the world and lived in Kaiserslautern, Germany and Ethiopia in the 1960s before settling in Manassas and then in Warrenton for 35 years. A pop culture enthusiast and collector, Mike visited trade shows all over the United States and befriended celebrities, fellow fans and other collectors. His most cherished celebrity photos included him with William Shatner and him with Robert Wagner and Stephanie Powers. He enjoyed going to antique malls, traveling to places like Alaska and Hawaii, going on many cruises, theme parks, visiting Williamsburg and seeing movies (all of them) at the movie theater with his best friend and wife, Jo Anne. He was also very proud of his Danish heritage and culture. He cherished his cousins and relatives in Denmark on his mother’s side of the family.

Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Jo Anne (Newman) Tilford; three sons, J.D. Humphreys (Dr. Jason Cottrell), Daniel Tilford, and Alexander Tilford (Jill); a sister, Linda Postigo (Fedor); two brothers, Mark Tilford and David Tilford; two sisters-in-law, Judy Nooner and Pauline Press, and his nieces and nephews, Gregory Nooner, Gabriela Postigo, Andrea Postigo, Sebastian Postigo and Lillianna Nooner.

Mike was preceded in death by his father Thomas Tilford, mother Tove (Kristensen) Tilford, brother-in-law Ronnie Newman, mother-in-law Elizabeth Newman and father-in-law John Newman.

The service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, November 22, at Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton (face masks required). Due to the pandemic, a recording will be made for those who request it.
