Olin Delano Silver, 84, of Warrenton and formerly of Roanoke, passed away on December 16, 2020, at Inova Fairfax Hospital, Falls Church.
He had a 42-year career with Norfolk Southern Railway, retiring as a supervisor. Olin honorably served in the U.S. Army as a sergeant from 1957 to 1963. Mr. Silver was the youngest of 10 children and predeceased by his parents, Luther and Edna Silver, and eight siblings.
He was survived by his wife, Martha Ann Hale-Silver; a son, Michael Olin Silver and his wife Naomi of Warrenton; a daughter, Michele Ann Silver of Reston; a brother, Floyd D. Silver of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; two grandchildren, Derek Olin Silver and his wife Karen of Herndon and Zachary Michael Silver and his wife Kimberly of Clarksboro, N.J., and two great-grandchildren, Kathleen and Zaydan.
Skeet planted a large vegetable garden every spring and tended to it with love and care. He taught his son, daughter and grandsons how to fish, something they still enjoy today. He also loved reading crime novels and listening to Elvis. And Skeet was an avid sports fan. He never missed a sports question in the boardgame, Trivial Pursuit. He especially loved the Miami Dolphins, Duke University’s men’s basketball teams and the Washington Nationals.
A private service is being held in Warrenton.
