Obituaries » Rita Ann Slaughter

Rita Ann Slaughter, 57, of Vienna, passed away peacefully Monday, October 5, 2020, at Fauquier Hospital in Warrenton after a lengthy illness.

She was born November 1,1962, in Germany, where her father served in the US Army, to the late Albert and Johanna Slaughter.

Rita later moved to Vienna, Virginia, where she was raised and spent the majority of her adult life. Educated in Fairfax County Public Schools, she in 1981 graduated from James Madison High School in Vienna.

Rita worked with several electrical contractors over a 40-year period. When she retired on disability, she was employed with Metropolitan Lighting. Rita was also a member of the Vienna Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary for many years, where she spent countless hours volunteering in the community.

Rita was a devoted sister and aunt, finding great joy in taking care of her nieces, great nieces and nephews. She spent decades \ensuring that her loved ones were well cared for. She was an active participant in all of their academic accomplishments and outside activities, such as sports and cheerleading to name a few. No matter the season or sport, Rita was always there to cheer them on. Rita enjoyed playing BINGO, a hobby she shared with her mom, sister and nieces.

Rita leaves to cherish her memory, a sister, Maria Slaughter Hill; two nieces, Angela Barlow-Crute (Malcolm) and Christina Barlow (William); the great nieces and nephews she adored, Taylor, Jayden, Xavier, Mikah, Shyann, Sydney, Sean and Julius, and many other family and friends she loved dearly.

The family asks that you join them for a memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 24, at Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton.

Condolences can be offered at www.moserfuneralhome.com.
